作りびと・伊藤壽子 Hisako Ito, crafter
1952年石川県生まれ。地域活動センター（障害者作業所）NPO法人「ポポの家」所長。難病・筋ジストロフィーの2人の子どもとの闘病生活の中で和紙人形と出会う。2001年から4年の歳月をかけて百人一首の100体の和紙人形を完成させる。作品「雅楽」が2007年法鏡寺人形展50周年記念「人形公募作品展」で入選。兵庫県の尼崎市や伊丹市、川西市などで定期的に作品展を開催している。
Born in 1952 in Ishikawa Prefecture. Director of the Regional Activity Center (workplace for disabled persons) and NPO "Popo's House."
Mrs. Ito encountered "washi" dolls while her two sons battled muscular dystrophy. Over the course of four years from 2001, she completed 100 "washi" dolls based on the famous One Hundred Poems. Her work "Gagaku" was entered into the General Public Doll Exhibit commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Doll Exhibit at Hokyo Temple in 2007. She holds regular exhibits in Amagasaki, Itami, Kawanishi, and other cities in Hyogo Prefecture.
この「子」たちの、ここを見てもらいたい！作りだした私の思いを伝えたい！
I'd like you to see these "children." I want to convey my feelings through my creations
和紙人形と出会ったきっかけは長男（1974年誕生）。生後6ヶ月で筋ジストロフィーと言われました。
治療法もなく病院通いの日々。そんな中、和紙で作られた姉様人形と出会いました。
その人形は帯の中に手が入っていた…
「人形の世界にも障害者が…」それは障害の子がいなければ感じなかったであろう親の気持ち。
それが私の、和紙人形作りの出発点です。
5年後、次男誕生（1979年）。この子も同じ病気。次男が15歳で入院した時、そばにあった綿棒を使っての人形作りを始めました。
長男は10歳、次男は17歳で別れの日を迎えました。子どもたちに何もしてあげられなかった親なのに、子どもたちは私に「和紙人形作り」というものを残してくれたのです。
今は、八センチのこの「子」たちが私の「子」であり、力を与えてくれます。そして、この「子」達が皆様の目に触れ、声をかけてもらい、1人歩きすることが、母としての切なる願いです。
My first encounter with "washi" dolls came through my first son, born in 1974. He was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at only 6 months old.
With no treatment available, our daily life of commuting to the hospital began. At that time, I encountered an "anesama ningyo" doll made of "washi" paper.
The doll had her hands in her sash...
I realized that disabled persons are active even in the world of dolls, a parent's feeling I would not have noticed if I did not have a child with disabilities.
That was my starting point in creating "washi" dolls.
Five years later in 1979, my second son was born. He also had the illness. When he entered the hospital at age 15, I started making dolls using the cotton swabs nearby.
My farewell to my my first son came when he was 10, and to my second son when he was 17. Although I was unable to do anything for them as a parent, my sons left me with something: "washi" doll-making.
These 8-centimeter "children" now give me strength as my own "children." As a mother, it's my ardent wish that these "children" catch your eye, hear your voices, and set off walking on their own.
